Kaleb Van Adelrik:
Certified Assistance Dog

Johnathan en Kaleb: Partners for life.

In the picture on the left you can see Kaleb retreiving keys to his partner. Very important that he keeps the keys in his mouth without getting "mouthy" and because of that make the keys unusable.

On the second picture you can see Kaleb opening the fridgedoor. Sadly for him he's been tought to open it not for himself but for his partner. But the reward will be satisfying.

LIDS4KIDS is a program I started, it raises money from donations and then buys hats for kids in chemotherapy and radiation at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center UNC Hospital, the program I went through. It is all non profit and our logo is copyrighted. We
just donated 100 hats and I'll take another 150 at the end of the summer. It is my way of giving back and it makes me feel great to see the kids smile.

From Chapel Hill, mom and I headed to the mountains to visit Kaleb. It was a fun trip and he did really great the whole time we we re together. Him standing with his front paws on my lap (right picture) is actually a good thing. When he does this on command I can easily open the pouch on his vest and retrieve my medicine, keys, or anything important.
In the picture of him and I walking he has on a walking harness that enables me to walk short distances, he has to learn to walk at a slow pace or my pace to make this a reality in daily life.

While I was with him he went in his first restaurant a BBQ place and the mall, he did great both places. And all the people staring were staring at him and not me. Also quite a few people stopped to inquire about him and his breed.
A mostly solid German Shepherd Dog with a full coat is an oddity here in North Carolina.

On the last picture you can see Johnathan with Kaleb. The dog is finally at home and is doing very well. KALEB now is an OFFICIAL CERTIFIED ASSISTANCE DOG .
He got his "official certification ID & Tag" from "the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Resources".
